treat boils at home
Help. Skin Boil or something else?
Ok, i had 2 boils under my right armpit, one is just normal, and the other is like a pit.The pit one now is very painful. when i lift my arm it feels like my skin is peeling off. is this a boil or is it something else?
also. there is like no skin on the pit boil, and how would i treat it at home?
its been under my arm for over a week, ive put some neosporin on but nothings happening.
The standard home treatment for a boil is to apply moist heat with a clean cloth, hot as you can stand without scalding the skin, and applied as often as you can do it. That helps encourage them to drain all by themselves. Boils tend to be most painful just before they drain as well. With moist heat, most will drain themselves in a few days, depending on how isolated the body has gotten them when you start putting on the heat. Otherwise, you want to keep the spots covered with a bandage and keep your hands off them entirely. Boils are caused by staph bacteria from the surface of the skin getting into the skin. The drainage will usually smell pretty bad, and it may even look greenish yellow, depending on how many dead white blood cells are there. Once it drains, pain relief is nearly immediate. Keep it clean and covered with a bandage until it heals completely. Wash under that arm last, so you do not transfer the bacteria to a new site. If it doesn’t improve within a week, you will need to see a doctor to have them drained.
