Boils Groin Area Cause

boil in groin area… in the same spot as 4 years ago?

When I was 17 I got this boil/abscess in my groin area, right in between my groin and leg. When I was 18, I went to the doc since it was painful and they said its an abscess and gave me some meds- i took only maybe a day or two of the meds… went away in a few more months.

That boil gave me a little pink scar, barely noticeable, when it went away. Now that I am 21 (and pregnant) it has come back, just as big and painful. I hear that pregnancy can cause stuff like this to come up again.

But what are the chances of it coming back in the same exact spot? Should I try to drain it or let the doc?

I assume the meds you took were antibiotics the first time and you need to see a doctor for the same course of treatment. Take all of the antibiotics this time (10 days). Typically a boil is a staph infection and isn’t something to mess around with.

Being pregnant isn’t easy on your body. Things you would normally fight off may become bigger problems as you get worn down.

If there was an opening in the skin that is where staph will appear. Sweaty/ moist areas are the most common, such as groins & under arm. There is a soap you can get over the counter (hibiclens) that can help keep it from spreading. Unfortunately you already have an outbreaks so antibiotics are your best course. Moist heat will help draw the infection out and my reduce discomfort. Keep the wound clean.

Being pregnant isn’t a good time to get lazy with your health care so go see a doctor. Take care of yourself and the little one. Good luck.

Fortunately, there is a very safe and effective treatment for boils. It disinfects the area of the boil, prevents the infection from spreading, and helps to speed up the healing process. For information on how to best treat boils and carbuncles, follow this link to BoilX
