herbal remedies for boils

I’m searching for an herbal remedy my mother used to get rid of impurities, can anyone help?

My mother was talking about an herbal mixture she used when she was younger to get rid of toxins in her skin. She said it looking similiar to pot (her words not mine..) and she would put it boiling water, drape a towel over her head, and keep her face over the steam for a little while. I’m wondering if anyone knows what she might have used, or something similiar to it.
