how do you heal boils

i had a boil that bust,then it left a little peanut size crater on my belly?

what i have been doing to heal it myself is clean it evryday with anitbacterial soap,fresh bandage every day and i even bought poplosyin it was number one for fighting infection. how long do you think it should take before i see some improvement before i drag myself to the doctor? it doesnt hurt it just look like if u scraped off a scab what it looks like underneath. i think its infected what do you think they actually will do to me, and also i cant swallow pills. i wonder if there an alternative to that
